So it has been super aggressive and then it's been a function as well for the big move up in yields across the curve that we've seen in in voice-verified
pretty much all markets, uh including as you mentioned in the at the opening, the UK, where we've seen that ten year test at level of five percent. voice-verified
Uh so it's been very aggressive and it sort of plays to the view that at the moment uh the the the market is really kind of seeing that voice-verified
Uh central banks at least initial reaction will be to to counter this inflationary shock um by uh lifting the cash rate. voice-verified
Uh but at the moment that there there's no pricing in terms of what is gonna happen to global growth or to growth in all these regions if we were to see aggressive central bank uh hiking as well as the the shock coming from energy. voice-verified
The issue for the semiconductors in particular is helium and helium supply is also being affected by what's going on in the Strait of Hamoose. voice-verified
Um I I will just add as well that, you know, we gotta remember that there's a great part of the you know, the global economy that is being funded by um, you know, private credits, the rise in yields and any refunding that needs to occur um will will will definitely occur at a at a much higher place. voice-verified
uh price. voice-verified
So um there's obviously this this creates um uh instability and uncertainty around how how the market can perform or the economy can perform or cope with this move up in yields. voice-verified
Um and then you know to to the to the start of the conversation uh I think that um the risk of this becoming a prolonged uh conflict uh has major consequences for for yields as well as the voice-verified
The global outc outlook for the voice-verified
Yeah, so I think there's a couple of of observations to make. voice-verified
One, the the Canadian voice-verified
uh economy, although it was a little bit softer in terms of the retail sales, um, this was obviously well before the conflict, so we can say the consumer was probably in a in a relatively good place. voice-verified
Um the New Zealand story I think is super interesting because um voice-verified
One, uh the widening of the trade deficit is a function of your price in a in la inelastic demand for imports. voice-verified
Um and then this global outlook that also challenges your um your exports. voice-verified
So if you think this is going to be a prolonged affair, then this idea of further widening and the trade balance for New Zealand uh it looks very likely. voice-verified
Um and then to add to that, you know, when we see Fitch um downgrading the voice-verified
then again that's a function of thinking, well, your economy is weakening and then you're gonna have to have an increase in your fiscal side in terms of expenditure, that is not a good look for for your credit outlook. voice-verified
