You know, we often get kind of the victim will leave and drive off into the sunset and then the credits roll, right?
Whereas, of course, as with everything, you know, the real story is far more complicated.
And for me, that's, you know, the really exciting thing is to actually get to the truth of the story, right?
And to show something that maybe feels a bit more real.
No, Keira was a really interesting character to write.
She starts off, she has so much self-doubt, you know, but she, over the course of the novel, yeah, as you said, it's sometimes two steps forward, three steps back, but she's always on this journey towards kind of getting her voice back.
I think that became the really important thing.
And, you know, there was a lot of joy in writing those scenes.

Yeah, it's still a strange thing.
I remember when the book was first published and you had strangers talking to me about it at festivals and you'd nearly have that moment of shock, like, how come you've read my book?
You know?
That's something I've been working on in private for so long.
But it's been incredible, really.
And I think, yeah, I mean, the best part really has been meeting readers and chatting to people and hearing different people's takes on the novel.
