First of all, you're letting prospective franchisees know that magical question that gets asked in every franchise sales presentation, how much can I make?
It eliminates the back of the napkin discussion that everyone fears.
From a franchise development standpoint, great item 19.
Again, if you don't have the numbers,
or your franchisees aren't performing, it doesn't help you.
It only helps you if the numbers bear out.
Darrell's words were performance matters, and those are the two words that still resonate with me and resonate with all the brands that we deal with.
So the other thing it does is it gives a banker, an underwriter, a frame of reference when they look at a projection for a new unit
They can go back to that item 19 or even better, a bank credit report that communicates it in a more detailed way.
It lets that underwriter make an educated guess because that's all it is on what the projection is with some framework.
And that's the difference between franchise lending and non-franchise lending is we have all of this performance history out there in like brands and like geographies.
I don't know how many franchisors out there know that they can make a supplemental item 19 disclosure based on geography.
That helps bankers.
It also helps prospective franchisees.
So there's a lot of ways and a lot of tools out there to communicate that information.
But again, if your franchisees aren't making money, it doesn't really matter.
And then maybe you should look at your business model and maybe you shouldn't be growing.
