So therefore our responsibility to deal with it in the first instance, to deal with in your own shop, in your own hospital, in your own medical clinic.
But if the problem's not being resolved, then to be willing to notify the regulator.
And that's not just a culture of clubbiness, it's a culture of, well, this is how we've always
done things and actually why do we need to upset the Apple card?
If we spend all our time focusing on the five percent, we'll end up with a lot of bureaucracy and a lot of expense.
I mean of course we do want to do both.
We do want to be able to give the public a real assurance.
We don't give them a real assurance at the moment.
They see that somebody is is registered, they think the checks have been undertaken when they've not.
So we do in that sense want to know that somebody who might turn out to be a bad Apple cannot
continue to practice without further retraining and so forth.
But we want to do this in a way that supports professionalism and actually helps everybody improve their standards.
We want that to be something that's helpful to practitioners because one of the biggest barriers is that doctors already feel incredibly overburdened.
They there's a lot of bureaucracy in their practice and so forth.
And the last thing they want are bodies like the Medical Board of Australia or or New Zealand coming along and saying, Now you've got to jump through
A whole lot more hoops.
No, and and actually I don't argue strongly for exams in my book at all.
Well you
it as lawyers.
No, we certainly don't.
