Um, it was, um,

It was one of those, so I did, I think that was after my junior year.

And then after my senior year, I went up to Tupelo and I had, I think I had Tupelo Daily Journal.

I had an internship there, but Columbus was the first time I really was on a daily basis around

in a newsroom around a daily like newspaper.

And, uh, and they had back then, I mean, it was an old school newsroom, um, where like you would hear things like stop the presses, literally.

Um, it was, so I learned a lot.

Um, and I didn't do sports almost didn't do, um, um,

Very little sports I did.

Mostly I was doing news and even crime stuff and features, stuff like that, a barbecue story.

So it was a learning experience, and I...

I tell a lot of journalism classes I talk to these days, the best advice for an aspiring sports writer is to be a news writer first.

And you really learn a lot about concise writing, even though I struggle with that still at times.

But you learn a lot about developing...

um, sources and relationships and breaking news.

And it was just, it's, it's, it was really beneficial for my career to start off in that realm.

Um, so that was, yeah, that was a big learning experience that summer.

And, um, I do kind of remember thinking, uh, I really wanted to do more sports there.

And, um,

Basically, it was just a news internship.
