OK, so this was a letter that the governor of the state, Andy Beshear, sent inquiring as to the status of Mitch McConnell.
Now, Kentucky is one of these very rare states where it's a very Republican state, but they have a Democratic governor.
And so when the Democratic governor was voted in.
The legislature actually changed the law, which does not allow the governor to appoint a replacement for a dead Republican senator because the Democrat will appoint a Democrat when a Republican just died.
So he is not empowered to appoint someone in place of Mitch McConnell.
But there is this deadline coming up August 3rd that determines whether or not a special election can take place.
So, dear Senator McConnell, over the last several weeks, Kentuckians have grown increasingly concerned about the current state of your health and well-being and ability to hold office in the United States Senate.
As governor, I request that you fully update Kentuckians regarding the current status of your health.
As public office holders, we have made a commitment to our constituents to do our best to represent them and almost to be transparent.
