Who did it come from?
Well, that is a great question, Brody, because many people have asked, hey, Cal, I've read this and read this, and I can't see the problem that they're trying to fix.
Because it seems like there's a lot of options out there.
including whether or not you would enter into one of these agreements at all, is a choice that you can make.
And there's drain tile companies out there that are pushing this pretty heavy.
There's been some statements and some media out there as to why this is a good thing, and it's coming from that industry.

In addition, some good neighbor policies were adapted I think back in 2024 to address this idea that you might be unfairly prosecuted if you adhere to the guidelines and you install drain tile
uh, outside of the fringe under either your NRCS or U S fish and wildlife service contract.
And you do it to the letter of the law.
It's called safe Harbor, um, that, that you are protected.
Yeah.
If there's, for whatever reason, that thing, uh, uh, drains anyway, uh, just basically giving the nod to the farmer saying like, you're not a geomorphologist, a hydrologist, you're, you're a farmer.
