And when you've been this organization that has been building around its young talent, there comes a point where you do have to trust them.

Now, the difficult part with Anaheim, even with all the veterans it had, is if you look at their underlying metrics,

The Ducks were among the bottom three teams in terms of shots allowed, high danger chances allowed, and scoring chances allowed, whether to see total of first 60.

It just wasn't great for them.

And so at this point, you have to argue, like, maybe it's worth trying something different because even when you had the veterans, you still weren't necessarily getting everything you wanted.

Now, that's not all on the defense.

Of course, you need forwards to have that buy-in as well.

So the thing with the Ducks is this.

It seems like they're still going to be a playoff team.

Maybe there's something that they can do later in the offseason, before camp, in terms of picking up some defensive health, once they've got those RFA deals signed.

But that's the thing, if you're them, and we even had this in our preview, like Batmobile is learning what a lot of execs have learned whenever they have all this collection of young talent.

It is fantastic to have these guys succeed out the gate.

And then when you got to pay them, it's a different reality.

And that's the reality they're in right now.
