I'm great.
How are you guys doing?
Yeah, no, I think definitely a lot of new bodies.
And I think we looked at the depth of the group and just felt like maybe a little more role definition.
Some guys with some center wing versatility, guys that could kill penalties, guys that could play physical when the situation called for it.
You know, I think maybe in years past in some of these spots,
You know, we've had more top six forwards that kind of, you know, you always want to have depth scoring, but maybe that kind of found themselves in imperfect positions in the third or fourth line.
And so we just looked at it and said, okay, you know, with Cowan coming back as a...
As a young player with a lot of upside, a lot of skill, a lot of talent, now onboarding McKenna, you know, that it made sense to establish some clear role definition and to have some flexibility within the group that we had.
Yeah, I think you probably see it, and again, this is Jim and his staff will ultimately decide this, but I think this will be forecasted.
It's trying to put Gavin in a situation to use the gifts that he has, which are some really high-end playmaking and skill and creativity and all those traits that he has, while also trying to accelerate his
uh the transition to professional hockey and and set him up to uh hopefully sooner rather than later be prepared to play you know playoff hockey which obviously as you guys well know um you know is a bit of a different beast and so um you know gavin he seems uh really
self-aware and able to see some of the areas in his game that that probably he's been so gifted and so dynamic in some areas that he hasn't even had to do some of the others and you saw some of that through his college season so to me it's just about you know us as an organization with John and Mattson and Jim and his staff having a situation where Gavin can create
offensively and do the things that made him special.
And then if there's opportunity for him to get with different guys at different times and round out other parts of his game, you know, we want to have that flexibility too.
Yeah, I mean, I think, again, you know, Jim, he controls the lineup card.
But for me, I think, you know, with the departure of Mitch, you know, over to Vegas, I think that's a type of player that has done well with Austin in the past.
And Gavin's, you know, line rush game, some of the –
interior plays he can make inside of possession he's got some unique gifts and I think that he would thrive with Austin and I think that Austin you know as the captain as a leader of the team I know for a fact that he's real excited about some of these guys coming in and he would take it as a bit of a badge of honor to help you know bring a young guy under his wing who can help him and help the team and at the same time you know like anytime
I think it's very important with Gavin and with any of our young players, as you guys well know, the noise is loud in Toronto.
