you know, data centers that were built maybe too close to residential locations or that the zoning laws weren't interpreted well enough.

There's not much they can do now that the cat's out of the bag, but what they say is they're working to do better going forward and that they're making the companies engage with the people that live in those communities to try and make things better.

Like in the instance of the woman who I interviewed who has a data center right outside her front door that has the power station that's on the campus,

The company Vantage is the name of the company which we've been in contact with.

They've committed to getting on the power grid so that the gas turbine power plant is no longer running so that it's not as loud and doesn't emit those fumes that they're concerned about.

That's one example of how they're trying to bridge that gap.

It doesn't change the fact that the data center is going to be there and that it's going to make it difficult for her to sell her house.

That reality is never going to change.

But...

What Loudoun County told me is that they're pretty much at their max.

They're probably going to build about 100 more data centers.

So they'll probably be somewhere in the range of 700 to 800 data centers in the county.

And then they're not going to do that anymore.

I know it's crazy.

And as you said, there's no other place in the world that has such a huge concentration of these things.

So there's no easy answer.

But I do think...

The lesson of Loudoun County is you've got to be a little bit more cognizant of the potential pitfalls and not just go rushing for the cash that comes from the data center.
