One guy we talked to said that he has a chronic dry eye problem now ever since the data center went up and running.

Despite all of that, there has been just an enormous economic benefit to Loudoun County.
They estimate somewhere in the range of a tax benefit of something like $7,000 a household.
And they would also argue, and there's some controversy among the data center opponents, that it is a huge job creator.
The thing about data centers are once they are actually up and running, they don't require that many employees.
But, you know, what Buddy Reiser told us is that they've been building these so consistently that if you signed up for a construction job to build data centers in Loudoun County 20 years ago, you've never stopped working.
Could be because you finish one project and you're right on to the next one.
In fact, they've had a hard time finding people to work in these jobs.
That's not the people that actually work there.
So that's, you know, there's a give and take to it for sure.
And, you know, the other person that I talked to about this is Sam Altman, who's, of course, the CEO of OpenAI.
And
He, you know, is cognizant of the concerns that people have about the explosion in data centers.
His plea is that these local communities come up with a better zoning and planning process to make sure that they're not interfering in the daily lives of people, which is easier said than done.
And I think Loudoun County is an example of that.
