O' Jesse Itzer's big-ass calendar.
Oh, yeah, it's great.
You look like you're doing all right on push-ups.
I hate this whole idea that you should work smart, not hard.
I absolutely hate that advice, especially for young people.
I think it's one of the worst pieces of advice that you can give.
This new thing that's become trendy is to tell people to be strategically incompetent.
Like, hey, when you're working in a job, you shouldn't show competence at things you don't want to do because then you'll just get more of them.
i think it is borderline dangerous advice to give young people because the truth is every single thing matters like small things become big things if you show that you are capable of taking on tiny things and taking them seriously that is the person that is going to be given the big things trusted with the big things brought into the new meetings given the new opportunities that's the person who's going to get lucky with other opportunities in life
And so I just hate seeing people constantly espouse this idea that you should just work smart.
You don't know what to work smart on until you work hard.
You have to work hard for many, many years to actually even know where you can work smart.
I think that in general, you have to be willing to endure the step back in order to have the two steps forward.
And for most people, that's really painful.
And I have found it to be the case when it comes to any level of delegation, whether it's with AI tools or whether it's with
with team and hiring, that yes, the person is not going to be able to do the thing at the bar that you apply right now.
But in a few weeks, if you really coach them and if you really work with them and you set expectations, they probably will.
And because it'll be important to them and they'll put more attention towards it, they'll probably be able to do it better than you very quickly.
And so, being willing to embrace that step back for the two steps forward, sort of like the paradox of progress, that's an essential rule for life.
What do you actually want your life to look like?
