I guess we will wait and see what happens through the week.
It is and and of course, you know, as we've talked about before on the c on the morning call, that that has been a sector that has wobbled a bit in in in the last couple of months, but it feels like investors started the week with a pretty positive frame of mind and as you said, some pretty decent gains in uh a number of those megacap uh tech stocks.
Um
But yes, I mean the the the AI story uh you know is really just a a sort of question of too much demand and not enough supply and beating up the price of memory and chips and and we've seen that reflected actually in final prices.
So, you know, anyone who's bought an iPad in the last month or two would have noticed that uh the price of that has has gone up and that's in direct response to, you know, some of those components that go into uh those devices being more expensive.
Yeah, it was a really solid uh report last night.
So as you said, the headline index at a at a four year high and then really solid gains in new orders, in employment.
Uh and encouragingly uh the prices paid
component of the the ISM, that actually moved in a favorable direction as well.
Uh there's an alternative manufacturing measure as well, the S and P uh PMI that came out last night in the US as well, and again just sort of validates this story that uh you know, US manufacturing uh is is doing very well uh at the moment.
So I guess add that to the list of of positive data coming out of that part of the world.
Yeah, I mean I I I would I would think that that would be the natural course of events that uh
You know, I guess, uh, you know, f central banks are moving away from wanting to give forward guidance and that's fine.
Uh I think the caveat to all of that is that that works well if the markets understand the central bank's reaction function.
And so that means that they've got a framework in which to assess the incoming data flow and
and make an assessment as to what that might mean for you know what the central bank might or might not do down the track.
Uh and so, yeah, uh in in that sort of world, um, you would expect markets to to watch data a bit more carefully uh and and possibly react a little bit more.
Um but I guess in the US we're just in the early stages of of this, I guess sort of reset of uh the way we're gonna do monetary policy.
And I and I do think markets are
I'm probably just a little bit uncertain about uh, you know, some of the other broader ambitions that may or may not be uh part of uh the new chairs
