So they're both numbers that are well above

the Fed's 2% inflation target.

But as, again, we heard from the Treasury Secretary last night, they are very much on board with this notion of the US economy undergoing this really positive supply-side shock and being able to run the economy

faster rates of growth and not having to worry so much about the inflation story.

So I think the way policymakers are thinking about it is that this is just a sort of a bit of a blip and, you know, maybe there might need to be some modest recalibration of US monetary policy, but certainly nothing

It looks like an aggressive tightening cycle.

And once we get through that, we should start to see some of those supply side benefits take place and the Fed able to sort of sit back and enjoy strong growth and low inflation.

Yeah, I mean, it was a similar sort of dynamic.

The US economy back then sort of underwent like a significant lift in productivity growth.

And that meant that Fed policymakers didn't have to worry so much about strong growth being problematic for the inflation outlook.

So yeah, that does seem to be the template that they expect to play out in the US over the next couple of years.

And so it'll be fascinating to watch whether that turns out to be the correct

Correct forecast or not.

Yeah, these are pretty volatile series month to month, but it does feel like, you know, that the housing market is struggling a little bit.

So pretty decent decline, as you said, in new home sales in the month of May.

You know, it could be just a combination of, you know, weak consumer confidence.

You've got slowing population growth as well.
