They'll be poring over the details with more interest about what this help to buy scheme is all about.
But also they could equally be queuing up for a spot in that home guarantee scheme as well.
What I would say is it's so important to understand what the fine print might look like, particularly with that help to buy scheme where when you do start earning more money, you do have to start buying back
some equity in your property.
You know, what the possible outcomes could be in the short, medium and long term, because the prognosis for the property market after going through huge increases last year in record busting increases is down.
So just understanding what that could mean for you if you're buying a property or hope to buy a property in the future.
Oh, that's right.
It's pretty intense figures that we're looking at at the moment, Craig, because we're looking at not just one cash rate hike, but multiple more in the next six to 12 months.
So our understanding, when you look at the data, most Australians are actually well-placed to take this on the chin.
We're not going to like it.
No one wants to hand their hard-earned cash over to the bank in high interest rates.
That's not fun.
But most Australians will be able to manage these extra repayments
A lot of people have had the toughest financial test of their lives in over the last few years, particularly people like small business owners who've had to shut their doors on and off throughout the pandemic, still struggling to find staff because of, you know, shortages with the borders being closed or shortages because people have been off sick with COVID.
These people have not got, you know, huge buffers probably to fall back on.
And that's the concern is those people.
And I would say if you do have a mortgage, sit down, do the maths on what your mortgage repayments would look like if they were even 3% higher.
If you don't like the look of that number, now is the time to take action, not in six months' time.
I think it's really important for people to be prepared to understand what the worst case scenarios might look like so that they feel comfortable when these rate rises come, you know, keep piling up.
If you can make small changes in your budget today, it can help you, and ongoing changes I'm talking about, that would be like switching to a lower rate loan now.
