So this has obviously been one of those processes where no one really thought that Peter Vlandis was going to get the number that he wanted, at least at first.

And yet it really looks like he has.

So we think that this is going to be a seven-year deal between Foxtel and Nine.

So basically everything's staying roughly where it is.

But people are going to be paying a lot more.

So Foxtel are expected to pay somewhere in the vicinity of $500 million a year.

Currently, they pay about half that.

Nine are expected to pay about $150 million, maybe a bit more than that, for a few free-to-air games in the State of Origin and some finals.

And then there'll be a bit more from a broadcaster in New Zealand.

So it'll add up to about $700 million a year, which is $4.9 billion over seven years.

What we don't know is how much of that is going to be in sort of free advertising.

They call it contra.

And, you know, there's probably a few other bits and pieces to be worked out.

But so we don't know how much of that's going to be in cash for the players and the clubs to divide up.

But either way you cut it, it's a massive deal.

It's a lot more than we're expecting.

And on paper, at least, it's more than the AFL is currently getting, which is the big win for Peter Blander.

Yeah, well, there was certainly a lot of competitive tension.
