XPeng has moved further than most people realize.

In May, its first mass-produced robo-taxi rolled off the line in Guangzhou, making it the first automaker in China to reach robo-taxi mass production.

Does that vehicle work as a proper robo-taxi yet?

No, it actually doesn't.

I mean, it's good, but it's not as advanced as Tesla's CyberCab.

So they're still a way off.

Those vehicles won't have the software to actually perform as robotaxis for at least a year, maybe a little longer.

We'll see.

However, that vehicle is pretty impressive, and it's running four of Xpeng's Turing chips for 3,000 tops, meaning it is actually the most powerful car in the world when it comes to compute capacity.

Response latency is under 80 milliseconds.

That's also insane.

Pilot operations, they say, start in the second half of this year with a fully autonomous service without a safety officer targeted for early 2027.

Targeted is the key word here.

We've got no idea if that'll happen.

Then, though, there's Iron, the humanoid robot.

Xpeng wants capacity above 1,000 units a month by the end of this year.

Ahead of a global rollout, they say that's going to happen in 2027.
