But here's the context that makes that claim quite bold.

Xpeng registered just 24 deliveries in Australia in June, and the factory-backed operation is only just beginning here under a cloud of controversy.

Will it go well for them in Australia?

Well, I don't know.

If you actually think about it in terms of Xpeng's pure car deliveries right now, you know, they're selling on average about 30,000 cars a month.

So about 190,000 a quarter, which is, you know, what, about one sixth or one fifth what Tesla is selling.

So when it comes to car deliveries, Xpeng are not even close to Tesla and they're not even remotely close to BYD.

But Xpeng is not measuring itself on today's numbers and globally it does have some receipts.

So here's the argument.

Xpeng calls it a physical AI ecosystem, and this is not marketing fluff.

Their foundation model VLA 2.0 underpins their road cars.

VLA 2.0 is essentially meant to be the equivalent to Tesla 4 self-driving.

And it underpins not just their cars, but their robotaxis, the humanoid robot, and their flying car.

So this is like their neural network.

Same software brain, like Tesla, four different bodies.

There is exactly one other company on earth attempting that combination and doing it pretty well.

And of course it's Tesla, Full Self Driving, CyberCab and Optimus.

So when Xpeng names Tesla, it's not comparing sales, it's naming the other, the only other company playing the same game and doing it the same way.

I mean, let's be honest, it's true that XPeng have basically copied Tesla's entire way of doing things and it is working quite well.
