Welcome to LCP Delta's Talking New Energy Podcast.
I'm Sam Hollister, Head of UK Market Strategy at LCP Delta, and today I'm joined by Sam Peacock, Managing Director of Corporate Affairs at SSE.
Sam, why don't we start with a quick intro from you on your role at SSE and also why SSE think that we're measuring the wrong energy bill at the moment.
Is that then running costs, operating costs of kind of these systems, or also just your infrastructure costs as well?
The fact that, you know, if we suddenly don't need as much sort of petrol forecourts or petrol infrastructure, or you I love this idea, right?
Of for for people who are listening, SSC have put out a report on this recently.
There's a kind of really nice graphic about the all kind of three sectors you just spoke about.
And obviously the electric bill increases.
That cost increases.
But what
perhaps we're not thinking about is this offsetting of the other two that kind of diminish and uh shows that it's actually a a saving and all.
So is there the operating bit as well or just the infrastructure costs?
How are those costs kind of manifesting in into itself?
The macro story is a great story, right?
And I think you'll have your numbers to hand better than I will, but I think it's something like was it five hundred pounds saving to households in twenty forty and a thousand pounds by twenty fifty if I if I remember?
As a customer, I don't naturally align those two bills at the moment, or those three bills, right?
Of a I guess electricity and gas I'm used to aligning, but I don't think of petrol in my household bills.
