A thousand eighteen hundred pound bill.

I remember working at Energy UK and people always kind of the point of the bill was kind of.

40, 50% profit margins, and it was more like sort of two or three percent at that point in time.

So it's interesting to really kind of drill down into what's driving those cost changes.

One of the points you just made there, Sam, around network costs, that does come under a lot of focus, right?

And as part of SSE, you obviously have a very interested party in this.

I mean, consumers are basically being asked to pay for infrastructure today to enable that electrification journey you've put out in your report and that we just spoke about.

How do you find that SSE and the role that you do in trying to manage that cost today benefit in the future type of engagement?

RCP worked through a report with SSE that got published a month or so ago, RGB power market outlook.

And one of the things that really does drive that bill in 2030 for customers was actually your balancing costs and how you manage that renewables.

And actually one of the findings was if we kind of accelerate further the deployment of renewables, it actually ends up increasing some of the costs if we don't get

the network build to come alongside it.

So it really is that critical piece of infrastructure that you otherwise you do end up with balancing and curtailment costs and things.

Sam, I guess on curtailment, I assume form national pricing curtailment, all those sorts of things are are vitally important for you in SSE at the moment.

And how are you seeing that conversation and debate going about how you help manage that system?

Absolutely.

I mean

I guess I'm really interested in your take as well.

Just we've both seen the evolution of the renewables story from being a low carbon, good for the environment, good for air quality, good, you know, a climate good, I suppose.

Now we're seeing it much more, I think, as an energy security story, which is always very interesting, right?
