And we all have a part to play.

And that's where I think care, kindness and respect alongside all of our great Australian values gives us a huge advantage.

And when I'm out in the physical world, when I'm visiting communities, I see people all over the country, more than just leaning in, the most extraordinary communitarians, the most extraordinary local projects of building cohesion, of building great communities and wanting us all to do that at all levels.

And we see it most recently in the respect that was played to Neil Danaher, his tragic death with MND, but engaging with the community over almost 15 years to bring us up and to care about those that were suffering from that disease.

And then most recently, the sad passing of Professor Richard Scolia, celebrated at a memorial at the Opera House, where all we talked about was a guy who said, let's all have a crack, but let's do it with compassion.

understand relationships, understand our families, show up and be kind to one another.

These are the people we say are great Australians who get Australian honours, who are Australians of the year.

And we can all emulate that behaviour.

And I see that desire challenged, though, by what happens in a world that allows too much disrespectful discourse to take hold.

And for us to think that's really what's going on.

So my relationship with the King, the Crown, is very strong, as it has been for all Governors-General.

It's important to note that the Governors-General are chosen by an Australian Prime Minister and recommended to the Crown, to the Queen, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, before His Majesty King Charles.

And

On no suggestion, no recommendation has the Crown ever rejected an Australian choice of Governor-General.

So I'm a creature of an Australian decision by an Australian Prime Minister.

And as you said earlier, I work in the Executive Council and take my advice and counsel from a Prime Minister and the government of the day and the Parliament.

And that's where my fundamental relationship is constitutionally.

The King is very interested in our country.

He's the head of the Commonwealth.

We're a proud Commonwealth nation and we're a realm country.
