Have you ever seen actors play actors?

They're terrible.

Yeah, right.

Never ask an actor to be an actor.

Because they just become sort of parodies of themselves or parodies of other actors.

If I was signing up today, I suppose I might do what those other people do now.

They go straight from neighbours to something.

I mean, lots of my friends now who are doing very well in Hollywood, they've spent years, years in misery, you know, just waiting for something to happen and going to all those calls and, oh, my God, I couldn't do that.

I don't have the...

I just don't have the moral fibre.

I don't have the courage.

I don't have the backbone to do that.

I realised, you know, that's why I always advise young actors, look,

Don't do this unless you're prepared for a lifetime of rejection.

It doesn't matter how big you are.

Maybe there's two or three actors that are always going to get the big thing.

But everyone else, you're always up against someone else and they're going to get the part.

And you've just got to realize, you've just got to toughen up and go, I'm going to be rejected all my life.

I'll have it.

With luck, I'm going to have the odd break.
