I try and look useful as best I can, but it's really fun to put something on a table.

And sometimes when I've made a film, it's really fun to take someone along and say, we did this.

When it's done.

You're doing things right up to the last minute, just as you are with films.

So that there's very little tweaks.

There's tiny tweaks that can make all the difference right until the point.

No, that's what they say about art, isn't it?

A painting is never finished.

You just have to stop one day.

Is it usual for actors to take their friends to see the films?

There are films I've never seen myself, let alone take a friend.

But there are some that I've taken considerable pride in.

I've almost never had a really bad experience making a film.

Mostly, even films that have turned out to be famously, infamously bad were actually really quite fun to make.

And I love actors and I love being around actors.

I love being on sets.

I love the sort of lies that people tell, stories, and actors are good company.

They're usually smart people and they know lots of things and they're really, generally speaking, pretty amusing, apart from the ones that take themselves seriously, but there aren't many of those.
