I thought, I know what I'm doing.

I'm an accountant.

I'm going to play the game.

These guys have reward points.

I'm not going to pay any interest.

And unfortunately, I would tap that thing when I was having beers, and I would tap it too many times when I had too many beers.

Now, all that that meant was I was making bad decisions that the future version of myself would have to pay back.

So then drunk Luke would make stupid decisions, spend his money that wasn't really his, it was the bank's, and then future Luke would have to go to work to make that money to then go and pay it back.

Now I ended up getting nearly towards the top of that $15,000 limit and having to sit back down and clear my way out of it, just to get back to zero.

So debt will not be something you will be able to escape in this country.

There will be more people marketing you to buy their stuff.

And then they'll be saying, you can't afford it, don't worry, we'll give you debt, and now you can afford it.

And it's very normalised, but you just have to understand the system that that's working on top of, right?

Because often we can get access to things that we can't necessarily afford.

One of the things that...

someone shared with me after coming and doing one of these talks, was that they were told by their uncle, as soon as they turned 15, that if you start earning money, you have to put 10% of that aside into an investment account.

And so he started earning income, and basically what he did is he put 10% into a form of an investment, and he got to 25, and he started talking to some of his mates, and they started talking about how much money they have set aside, and he was thinking...
