I guess which was good because, you know, I never heard them argue.

I never was exposed to any drama, but they were going through a lot.

no no they separated um sort of when my abuse stopped basically sort of around that same time so they were in a real they were at the end of their marriage basically when my abuse started yeah when you told uh your best mate how did he react cried we cried

was just there for me, bro, just listened.

And being the troubled young fellas we were, he was pretty keen to hatch a plan for revenge, which luckily never happened.

But, yeah, he was just supportive, bro, and is still to this day.

I told my sister first.

I've got a few older, three older sisters.

And I remember telling her, been out of jail for a couple of days.

I'd asked, I said that I wanted a family meeting because I was in jail.

It's weird.

I had this chaplain.

He's got shorts.

And he'd come and seen me, bro.

And he was coming and seeing other people in our unit.

And he'd been, he was in Rangipo.

So I actually knew him from him doing our services on a Sunday in corrective training.

And he was coming into our unit and seeing someone else and he saw that I was there and so he put in a special visit for me, you know, cool, I'll go see old Short, see what he's up to.
