Um and it's all good now.
And the story actually continues because when Scout wrote the book and told this story.
Um after the book came out he wanted to get a copy of it to this dentist as a kind of a thank you.
And he'd retired from his practice, but I was able to get an email address for him and
What was interesting was he said, Well my mother lives in northern San Diego County and I was visiting her one time and read a newspaper story about you guys and I thought, Oh, I know this couple and I really meant to get in touch with you then.
He said, I've been wanting to thank you because you rekindled my interest in backpacking and he's now done the John Muir Trail with his kids and his grandkids.
He's done it a couple of times.
So that was really cool to hear that some good came out of that.
What a wild story.
And I'll tell you this was this was but right after we'd crossed the border into Oregon.
And so
We had the we had a lot of really wonderful stuff behind us, but we also had a lot more in front of us and my teeth my feet were really hurting and I was thinking, geez, do I really have it in me to finish this?
And then when I realized when I broke my teeth and I thought, Oh, would is this gonna take me off the trail?
I was really upset, which is good for me to realize that I truly wanted to stay on the trail and finish the hike.
