We have, through the chair, we have had previous hearings where we've allowed members of the public who are in the room to come up and comment.

We have had dividend homes hearing where members of the public came up and responded to comments.

I think it's only fair to the neighboring retail that we allow them to comment similar to what we've done in other hearings.

It's the discretion of the chair whether you wish to support that or not.

I think it is our responsibility to do that Through the chair, I don't know where the stops if we start to give subsidies from the city

you have Panera, you have the retail that is lost at Staples, at United Furniture, and so on.

I would actually wonder why we wouldn't motion this to require or encourage any lease termination to go towards tenant improvement for a future location.

It's not like Cupertino does not have retail space.

We have plenty of retail space.

We have 2,000 square feet at the Westport that is sitting as a shell.

We were told there's retail to the east of this property.

There's retail available at the shopping center that hosts the Lee's Sandwich.

There's retail further along to the east of the dividend homes property that we just approved.

So we can go down.

Stevens Creek and nearly every shopping center has retail available.

This isn't a question of space.

This is a question of dollars for tenant improvement.

And perhaps that is a matter between the parcel owner terminating the lease and the tenant.

I don't know why the city would get in the middle of that and where does it stop because every tenant that is losing retail would face the same issue.
