And then you find out later why.
But it takes, you go back years and years through their marriage and you slowly unearth secrets as you go.
I think I got about a three star average on Goodreads.

I would put it at about 4.5, maybe.
I liked it.
They call it New England noir because they're like total academic eggheads.
And you think that their marriage is just this boring affair.
But it's like, who's afraid of Virginia Woolf meets Double Indemnity?
It's the worst marriage you could ever imagine.
So that's kill your darlings by Peter Swanson read by Steven Weber, who I just like as a fantastic narrator.
I haven't even finished this book, I have to tell you.
But it's just so amazing that I have to read it in small doses because it gets me so excited and joyful.
It's called Gilead by Marilynne Robinson.
It was published in 2004.
And it was a big star in the Oprah scene there.
She liked it a lot.
And the thing is, it's a letter that this elderly minister is writing to his very young son because he married a second time late in life.
