She's the best.
I love her, love her.
So, you know, she does so many drops of wisdom from this woman but she talks about how monogamy is really like where desire and passion goes to die and that sounds depressing at first.
Really?
But it sounds very depressing at first and probably, you know, might –
Trigger a few people into being like, what do you mean?
What she means by that is for our nervous systems to really feel safe, to be vulnerable and intimate and rely on someone and trust someone, we need consistency.
We need security.
Totally.
You know, we want to know that that person is there.
We know we can predict their usual behaviors.
We know that they show up for us.
They show us nurture and kindness.
all these lovely things that relationships do need.
So what the problem is though is that desire and passion, that thrives on like mystery, thrill, you know, these kind of like novelty.
Like that's what desire and passion gets fuelled by.
So if you think about like committed relationship,
doesn't really have that stuff like it's not that it doesn't and you can't have passion and desire in a monogamous relationship you absolutely can but there's something about situationships that give you this kind of like foot in both worlds where it's like there's still this like novelty adventurous like thrilling mystery part because we're not like in this fully committed relationship but we have these like pretend parts of the committed relationship so we get a bit of both and
So I think that that can kind of keep that sort of like, I don't know, like bad boy or like kind of excitingness or, you know, sort of thrill thing to the relationship.
