You you are perfectly within your rights to price around and you can ask your vet for a written prescription, but more often than not

um you're typically as well to go into your own vet.

Now some practices do have pet plans that give a discount on chronic medication.

So that would be considered a chronic medication and you could get up to twenty percent off on your monthly fee.

So that would definitely add up and it would cover the their veterin, their consultations and vaccines and things like that as well.

So preventative care is important in our especially in our older pets.

Mm-hmm.

Ear mites, yeah, they're less common than they used to be.

You can get a monthly parasite treatment that um helps to treat and prevent ear mites.

Um but you can all there are tablets available as well.

But what I would say is if it's a dog that's maybe prone to itchy skin, if they lick their legs and their feet a lot or if they're licking their belly a lot, there might be an allergy playing a role there as well.

And it can be ears are one of the most frustrating things that owners have to deal with.

Um I think there was a s a survey recently that showed that itchy skin and itchy ears is one of the main reasons a client will change a veterin practice because they're so frustrating to deal with as a as an owner.

So steroids for um itchy paws like that, it's usually an allergy is the cause.

And steroids would only be treating the itch, not the cause of the itch.

So as soon as they discontinue the steroids, the itch comes back.

It's like taking an antihistamine for hay fever.

Um so I would say to go on an actual you know, get get an allergy diagnosis if that's appropriate, and go on preventative care.

But it would be ongoing medication.
