You can notice behavioural problems.
So they can be a little bit cranky and things that they normally would have put up with completely happily, they no longer have the tolerance for.
So you'll often see with older dogs and older cats that they get cranky, people will say, and they might be more likely to scratch or snap or grumble at you.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
You know, you think of a human with spinal pain and you'd say there's no way they'll want to run.
Whereas, of course, your Jack Russell still wants to run.
But yes, they will try to adapt their movement to compensate and to make it more comfortable for themselves.
So, again, it's those subtle signs.
It's being aware of the fact that arthritis is almost an inevitability of ageing.
Our joints have wear and tear.
Our pet's joints have wear and tear the same way our joints have wear and tear.
So, you know, if we're lucky enough that our pets reach old age, we have to bear in mind that it is likely they will have osteoarthritis.
And the signs, they're very similar to those signs of chronic pain.
It's becoming withdrawn, licking joints, being less tolerant than they previously were, being a little bit slow to get up and get going.
Sometimes dogs can be a bit slower to eat as well because they can get arthritis in their neck.
So bending down to eat out of their food bowl.
They will still eat, but they might be slower now than they were previously.
