And so we would go in there and stock up on stuff.
I don't think that it's ever been a question.
I didn't set out to do this for a living.
This was not the plan.
I didn't want to do it.
I'd never thought about being on TV.
I never cared about it.
I didn't go to university, so I don't have any expectations of myself in that respect.
I didn't come from a world where we had to achieve anything.
There were no expectations on me.
So when I got into this business, I got into it because I loved music.
And so I was able to share records on overnight radio shows.
And so to me, the way that my relationship with the audience built and the profile that I built, it was born out of, hey, let me play you something awesome.
And then when I started to do the interview show on CBC, it was, hey, let me connect you to something awesome.
Let me push some buttons and push some boundaries, and maybe it's not always awesome.
But generally speaking, I was the guy who was just saying, hey, you'll never hear about this band because they don't have anybody behind them.
But if you do connect with them, they might just become the most important band in your life.
So I built my relationship with people
by sharing stuff that I liked.
So I never made it about me.
