Okay, so why the lesson is actually first to decide how you're going to decide is because I used to not use this.
I used to decide much more based on prestige, on security, on stability, because those were the metrics that really mattered to me.
And I think where people go astray is when they don't work out what metrics matter in their life, because it's going to be different to everyone else.
you know, much more stability focused.
Some people have a higher risk tolerance and some people like change, some people don't.
And I think, yeah, we run into trouble when we use other people's values to make our own decisions.
So I used to be a lawyer.
What makes you a good lawyer is if you're extremely risk averse and I would decide everything based on what's going to be safe.
But what I've realized now is I actually am so happy when I have no regrets.
My biggest fear is looking back and regretting that I didn't take an opportunity.
And so deciding everything based on stability, that's the opposite.
That's going to leave me with so many regrets because I'll think, sure, I was safe, but I missed out on finding out how much better life could be.
So now I sort of think whenever I'm presented with a big life decision, whether it's leave my job in law to like start a business, whether it's start a podcast before anyone did, you know, it was podcasting, whether it's have a baby, like whatever it is.
On the other side of fear, future me will always want to look back and think nothing was right.
There was no stone unturned.
And so in every era of my life, I've been like, you know, law will always be there.
The business opportunity won't.
When I got the chance to go to Antarctica, I got the chance to go to Necker Island.
