It's a gift to the White House.
It's going to be a secure area where dignitaries and when you have visiting foreign leaders, that it's a secure area where events can be held, where diplomatic events can be held.
But, you know, again, the White House, you know, it holds a special place, particularly in the D.C.
bubble, of course, but it does hold a special place, I think, in America's hearts.
And it is symbolic of the fact that it's supposed to, as you heard that man say there, it's supposed to be the people's house.
So I feel when you're talking to Americans here, there is a little bit of a sense that President Trump
It's putting his mark on the White House, undoubtedly, but not necessarily in a democratic way that's being sort of vetted and approved by the people of America.
yes turning it blue why why that's a very good question i'll have to put that to president trump uh look you know president trump has got i mean there's been a controversy playing out more serious controversy in the background david which is uh you know we've actually discussed it before on your program the reports of uh president trump's name being added to uh various
institutions around Washington DC, one of those being the Kennedy Arts Center, which became the Donald J. Trump and Kennedy Arts Center, Center for the Arts.
And that has actually had a legal ruling that he wasn't allowed to do that.
So that is still all up in the air.
You know, I mean, in fairness, when you ask the White House about these separate changes in the ballroom and the money and where's the money coming from for this latest event that's put this arch over the White House, they said the UFC are paying for that.
They've said that the ballroom is a gift.
There are so many questions remaining about the funding of this, but also about, I guess, the presidential powers to make these types of changes that have such a long-lasting impact and also sort of change the narrative
around America's history.
And again, just as background, this is sort of a more local story.
But in Charleston, the administration have said that they're going to be removing some so-called woke quotes from one of the memorial lodges there.
And that has caused a huge amount of controversy.
One of them's an anti-war quote from
from a Vietnam veteran.
