I need a little bit of wriggle room to kind of fit this into my own system and make sure it makes sense for me.
So I think with the guidance going forward, what what companies really want from our perspective is enough guidance to be able to interpret this law uniformly, especially across 27 member states, but not so much guidance in concrete details that it doesn't leave a little bit wriggle room.
room to adapt it to your own needs and systems because every company does work differently.
So Chris was talking earlier on about these one hundred and sixty six indicators we have.
Good practice uh example from these reports.
So we're not only trying to kind of point out what companies are and aren't doing, we're also trying to provide some inspiration.
So if you go on our corporate due diligence uh monitor, you can access those examples and take a closer look at what leaders are currently doing to actually implement those practices.
Yeah, really happy to to bring in a very German automotive sector example here, kind of upholding our our national flag there.
So uh like you said, it it is an automotive company um and they used the law as a kind of starting point to work on their grievance mechanism.
So they had systems before, but there were two separate channels, and they really used the law as a kind of catalyst to re-evaluate those.
And they took two really important steps.
The first one was to combine those, just saying if I'm a person
trying to hand in a complaint and I have to navigate which channel I need to turn to, that's too complicated.
We need to unify these, we need to have a uniform system.
But I think the second and more important steps was that they ta started talking to complainants.
So, not just sending them an automatic email, kind of like when you're ordering online and your parcel says we're gonna arrive in three days, we're gonna respond to your complaint in three weeks.
Um, but really taking a personal approach to engaging with the people who turn to them with concerns.
And that actually ended up helping them.
So the case study we have um also includes a little anecdote where an NGO reached out to them, but sadly did so very late, um, at a stage of an emerging conflict, and they didn't
share a lot of information.
