You're on the cover of Stella today and you and I both know, yes, looks can be deceiving.

We all know whether it's social media or the cover of a magazine, things are never quite as the highlights reel would suggest.

How much of that now in hindsight was really you putting on a really good show and not in a fake way but just because that's who you are as an elite athlete?

I wanted to ask you about the reaction to your news, because this is the first interview you've given since you went public with the announcement that you'd be medically withdrawing from the Games.

First of all, as you have said, your own teammates in the Dolphins didn't know.

What was the reaction from your fellow teammates in the Dolphins and your professional peers?

The reaction from the Australian public who you've just referenced, it seems to have been incredibly supportive.

Is that your understanding of it?

And were you anxious about that?

Oh, look, you absolutely do.

And I think there's something really admirable about that.

When the 2026 Commonwealth Games kick off later this week and we see the dolphins taking to the pool, how do you think you're going to feel watching from very, very far away, much further away than obviously was planned until a few days ago?

A lot of Australians will be thinking what is the performance in the pool going to look like at the Comm Games with the Dolphins looking so different this year yourself and of course Ariane Titmuss, Emma McKeon, Bronte Campbell have all retired what's your prediction about what we'll be seeing in the pool this week?

You've already had said that this would be your last Commonwealth Games.

How are you processing that?

What are your immediate plans as you recover from glandular fever?

What does the timeline look like?

And has this changed anything in terms of the long-term vision for LA?
