Can Montreal actually get something back in return for him?

Because there are 10 teams that are under the salary cap floor, but I think Nashville and Seattle are just a hair below that.

They're essentially at the floor, so I don't want to count them.

Plus, they have enough players and spots open that they'll push themselves above that unless they start selling guys off.

So there are eight teams in the NHL, Bick, that are more than $1 million below the salary cap floor.

There's San Jose, Chicago, Anaheim, Pittsburgh, Philly, Columbus, Washington, Detroit.

And the thing about every single one of those teams is they either have a number of roster spots to fill, like upwards of six if you're San Jose, or they have roster spots and big-time RFAs like Conor Bedard, Leroy Carlson, Shinnokov even, Zgris, Fantilli, Conor McMichael, Simon Edmondson.

So all the teams that are under the cap floor...

have enough spots and key RFAs up that if they simply sign those players, they'll get themselves to the cap floor.

So is there even a market out there that would be robust enough that would allow Montreal to get something back in return for Brendan Gallagher?

That's where my skepticism lies.

So, I mean, they have enough of those veteran forwards.

Chicago did trade away Nick Foligno.

Ilya Mikheyev isn't coming back.

Could they be in the search for some veteran leadership and could he fall into that category?

So, there might be some interest, but I'm just skeptical that there's going to be robust enough interest where Montreal is actually going to get something meaningful back in return.
