If there's a chance that you're going to get stranded at a connecting city, I long told people to have a list of hotels that you're going to call directly to the front desk to get a room.
Just to be prepared, the quicker you call and get a room, sometimes faster.
Things fill up very quickly, and so speed is an issue.
And then I like to tell people, just don't fight City Hall.
Most of the time, it won't take you very long to get through security, but you can't count on that.
Most of your flights will be on time, but you can't always count on that.
So you have to factor in delay because it does happen.
Don't show up 20 minutes before departure and then get all aggravated at the airline because you missed your flight.
It just may take more than 20 minutes to get through the airport.
