They just don't want to lose those business travelers in particular because they're hoping they're going to come back at some point.

And when they come back, the airlines want them to have status in the loyalty program.

So they're not free agents and can't go just pick another airline.

Well, I think those that get left out are the people who don't use the American Airlines credit card.

It's going to become harder to qualify simply by being on airplanes.

So people who qualified certain ways in the past, that may not work for them in the future because of this.

I also think there's an issue of Americans going to have more people in the loyalty tiers.

They're purposely expanding the ranks.

And that means more people competing for upgrades and things like that.

Now, if you're in the lower tiers of the program,

You're probably not getting many upgrades to begin with.

You're probably not getting any upgrades.

And so that's probably not a big issue.

American says a lot of the new members, they're not hardcore business travelers.

And so they're going to be traveling at different times.

And so there won't be as much direct competition for upgrades.

But that's a big issue.

So, you know, anytime in the airline business when there are winners, there are also losers, too.

Well, it's similar to airlines.

Marriott, Hilton, Intercontinental Hotels, they've all extended current status for members in their loyalty program for another year.
