It doesn't need a boost, an excessive fiscal stimulus.
And if we were to hit a further shock and maybe a deeper shock that was to cause a more negative reaction in the economy, then would be the instance when we should be pumping money in.
But if we put all that spent now, we mightn't have it when we actually do need it.
So there's no doubt that there are issues there.
But I think we must look at them sort of in the round and see, like, are the issues that can be dealt with in the short run or do we need to take a more medium or long term approach?
Like when it comes to housing, there's no doubt we have issues when it comes to the supply of housing.
But I think it's most acute in the private rental sector.
There was figures out during the week from the CSO on house price inflation.
And within that, they give the number of transactions.
And in the 12 months to the end of May, there was about 21,000
first time buyer transactions.
So you're heading for not far off 500 first time buyers a week.
And that's just on the buying side.
You'll have first time owners who self build, you'll perhaps have first time owners who get bequests following debt, etc.
So the number of owners is growing.
Is it growing fast enough?
No, we do need more.
But 21,000 first-time buyer transactions is a pretty significant amount and is higher than it has been in recent years.
But if you look at trying to find somewhere to rent privately, well, the numbers simply aren't available there.
Perhaps that's where we need
