And also recall that the inalienable gift was for Elendil and his heirs, not the stewards.
Right.
So Aragorn or whoever the heir of Elendil is or the heir of Isildur is
can alienate that right from the steward if they want to.
And we're given two reasons for that.
The first is that the stone is now without owner or warden, but I'm not really convinced that that would matter anyway, because his right is superior.
Going back to what we were just talking about a moment ago, Aragorn is not yet the de facto king of Arnor and Gondor because he's not actually sitting on the throne.
He's not actually wielding that power.
But he is by law the king of both of those realms.
Absolutely.
And that's exactly what de jure means, is by law.
And so that's why he's got the authority, even though he doesn't actually have the temporal power of the throne.
So, yeah.
And that's what reminds you that this, the mechanism for all of this is, is magical.
It really is.
