tape or you know an old broadcast of a game that i did a long time ago and i'll think what you know my voice has actually changed a lot over the years i think my speech patterns my style of broadcasting has changed a little bit to me it almost now when i listen to games from 25 years ago it almost sounds a little robotic uh compared to now uh whether that's good or bad i don't know
But yeah, if you think I have a nice voice, I appreciate that.
And again, I'll give credit as you did to where it's due.
A little disappointed and offended, but not surprised.
Yeah, I think all of that is the most important thing that happened in my career path because I was very fortunate.
You mentioned the chronology of it.
January of 1984 was a few months before I was about to graduate.
I graduated in May of 1984.
When I was a student there at WAER, the legendary student radio station,
the station, the student station, had the broadcast rights for the Syracuse Chiefs game.
So for those first couple summers, it was myself and some other students who were broadcasting the games.
You auditioned for it.
and the management of the station, and the general manager of the Syracuse Chiefs, Tech Simone, the late, great Tech Simone, and his son John picked, okay, you three are going to stay this summer and broadcast the game.
So I won the audition after my – or the summer of my sophomore year of college.
After my freshman year of college, I actually did an internship –
at Enterprise Radio, which was trying to be the forerunner of ESPN Radio, and it didn't succeed.
But that was a great summer, and we'll do it on your next podcast because my housemate was my fellow intern, Kevin Harlan.

But I digress.
So I was very fortunate because I wasn't going to be a student anymore, so I wasn't going to be able to do the games on the student station.
