Look, the one thing I'll tell you that I believe is logical about our game, the best players in our game are in college basketball for the shortest duration.
And if you just think about it in the past, maybe they weren't part of an NIL era, but they were in essence nine months away from making a lot of money, life changing money.
So in a way, if you think about how that player was wired five years ago, 10 years ago, or how he's wired today.
It's about the same in that they have the opportunity to make a lot of money playing this game, but they're not going to get there unless they improve, unless they achieve, unless they do great things.
So I think that sometimes how you coach them and how you coach today, it's almost identical when you talk about the best players.
Well, he started recruiting Marcus the very day that I became the head coach at Texas.
It was very clear that he was one of America's best players, regardless of class.
And certainly, like you just mentioned, in the class of 2027, if not number one, certainly one of the top players ever.
They're also from our state.
He's from Dallas.
And the thing about this University of Texas, everything begins and ends in the state of Texas.
You have to have great awareness.
You have to make sure that we recruit the state in a very intelligent way.
Sometimes we might not have the best opportunity for an elite athlete or player, but when we do, it's our responsibility to beat the door down, to convince their family and him
to come here.
And that's really what we set out to do with Marcus.

Uh, his older sister, Kari is a sophomore on our volleyball team.
She was an exceptional freshman on Jared Elliott's volleyball team a year ago.
She's now a sophomore.
