Why?

We're not really clear on that either.

But certainly he's appointed a new prime minister, Serhii Koretsky, who was the CEO of the country's largest gas company, Naftogaz.

The theory behind that one, Zelensky did touch on, it kind of seems to be a play with winter in mind, given that Naftogaz is obviously a core part of keeping Ukraine warm during those cold winter months when Russia will target Ukraine's gas supplies.

Other moves were the more controversial ones, though.

Even the Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov, who can point to several successes, not least around drones and trying to block off Crimea.

It really led to a bit of a turning point in the war against Russia.

So his removal just sparked quite a lot of anger amongst Ukrainians who are sick of post-Soviet style leadership.

They're looking for fresh ideas and Mikhailo Fedorov seemed to represent that to many people.

In response, Ukrainians have protested, as people in a democracy can do.

And that resulted in a shake-up of the military, with Zariski, who was deeply unpopular, being replaced by a very popular commander, Mikhail Drapati.

I think that's a real possibility at this point.

Fedorov, as far as media reports suggest that I've been reading, hasn't accepted any of the role and won't accept any of the role unless it's a defence minister.

He wants that position.

He's done well at it.

He knows it.

And it's obviously very prominent.

Recent public opinion polls also saw Fedorov shoot up the rankings in terms of trustworthiness.

So he will potentially be viewed as a candidate that would take on Volodymyr Zelensky post-war in an election alongside the former Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhina, who is currently the Ambassador to the UK.

I think he's lost a bit, but he remains popular.
