Otani is dealing with an injury right now.

But again, because they have such a big lead in their division, there's no need to push him.

He did get an ejection, or he is getting an ejection over the All-Star break.

That is something to really keep a close eye on because the Dodgers could shut down Otani until the playoffs if they really needed to, if they felt it was necessary to preserve his health

for the postseason, they would shut him down.

And that would open the door for PCA or Juan Soto to win the NL MVP.

And the PCA-Juan Soto debate would be the exact same.

That would actually make it interesting because the PCA-Juan Soto debate is literally the exact same debate as Bobby Witt and Jordan.

Soto has the 1,000-plus OPS.

He's going to finish two more behind PCA.

PCA is going to have the 850 OPS but have the big wins above replacement lead.

on Soto.

But the difference between the NL and the AL is that PCA is on a winning team.

Soto is not.

Neither of the AL guys are on winning teams.

So I think the winning team thing might tie break for PCA if it came down to those two guys.

But it's worth noting because Otani right now skipped the All-Star game because he's dealing with an injury.

He's getting an injection.

And there's a non-zero chance that he could miss significant time the rest of the way.

He may still win NL MVP, even if he doesn't play another game this season.
