As one candidate famously said a few years ago, it was a whole party, the rent's too damn high.
Well, I think if you're not concerned, you're not paying attention.
It's a tough time.
And the stakes are so very, very high.
But again, I look at the elections in New York, the election in New Jersey, the elections in Virginia.
We are managing to get candidates elected across the ideological spectrum.
And at the end of the day, we have to put together a coalition to win.
And I think if the American people give us a shot at this, where we're in power, I think there's going to be a lot of onus on us to move swiftly, to move boldly.
Part of why we're here is our vision has not been big enough.
I think politics happens right now in a very narrow scheme of what's possible.
because of the ways in which the politics is owned by self-interest, we've got to make sure that we win in 26.
And if we can get a trifecta come 2028, if we don't do the things that are necessary to save this democracy and put us on a path where we can have a future big enough for all of our children, then shame on us.
So I'm focused on that work.
When you and I were talking a moment ago about the importance of knowing your history, here's a reminder of some recent history.
The last time the voting rights bill was reauthorized, George W. Bush.
Was president.
And it passed the Senate 98 to zero.
So this is a different.
party.
This is a, you know, although I think there were seeds planted that got us here, but this is a turning point in the history of our politics.
