The fact that you've crashed supply means that housing is unaffordable.
That's the fact.
Now, all these demand side schemes probably haven't helped either, but the main game is supply.
So these things are just fiddles.
The problem is, right, this is part of the dumbing down of Australian politics, that people honestly think, oh, yes, we can change CGT and negative gearing and all the housing fairies will fly into town and everything will be fixed.
But the reality is that if they get these changes through the Senate, which they will with the Greens in their communist alliance, we'll be having this podcast in a year from now and the problems will be worse, not better.
You know this won't fix it.
So the frustration I have is that people think these are real solutions when they're not.
We wouldn't keep any of their housing taxes or their other taxes.
Okay.
And we would cut personal income taxes by indexing the tax scale, which is an anti-inflation measure effectively by giving back people the money that Canberra steals
through inflation being higher than it should be in taxation.
We would also do a few things that Angus has announced in relation to housing.
So we'd look at having a nexus between migration and housing.
We would cut the National Construction Code.
And we would also look to help fund infrastructure needed for last mile housing.
Why is that important?
Well, because builders and developers are asked to subsume the cost of sewerage, roads, water infrastructure.
These are public costs we should be provided for by developers.
