It came after I wrote an article for ASHA about the approach I use to working with autistic children.

I talked about how kids need to be regulated and how we need to work on regulation, engagement, and communication in our sessions with autistic kids.

That ASHA article was one of the most downloaded ASHA articles of all time.

It led to tons of people reaching out to me, asking how can they learn more about this, saying that they agree with this philosophy, but they don't know what to do or how to do it.

And that is what led to me starting to create trainings because I have spent so, so many

Hours, time, energy, money, I can't even count all of the things trying to learn more about sensory and specifically about how SLPs can use sensory strategies, which is very, very different than the majority of trainings that exist out there.

Because as we know, almost always sensory is considered within the scope of the OT and SLPs and all these other professionals, which I know we're not focusing on this week, but

have been left out of this conversation.

And that's very difficult because we can't do our jobs if our kids are dysregulated, right?

So what we're going to be talking about today are some of the biggest mistakes that SLPs are making when they are trying to use a sensory-based approach or things that are stopping them from using a sensory-based approach.

And this is so that we can really start to address any of the type of resistance we have
