You could try to sell them yourself, but there's always an op shop that would love to find them a new home.
Kia ora, I'm Shalise Tansey and today on The Detail, the state of the op shop industry.
A new report from a new organisation finds that the value of op shops in New Zealand to our communities is worth $78 million every year.
This week, six organisations launched Charitable Reuse Aotearoa as an offshoot of Charitable Reuse Australia.
They've also launched a new report to find out about the impact op shops have on communities financially, environmentally and socially.
And some of the numbers are big, like $310 million worth of second-hand goods sold, saving Kiwi households $844 million buying used instead of new.
Gareth Marshall is a charitable reuse Aotearoa committee chair and is also the Salvation Army Family Store National Manager.
He starts off by explaining what the report is all about.
And I'm guessing because, you know, these charities that have been involved in this, you have Habitat for Humanity, St.
John's, Hospice, Red Cross, just to name a few.
