There's an umpire in there.

He's sorting it out.

My role to come in, and I understand what the lead-up was, and perhaps it should have been dealt with better in the actual lead-up, that Maynard felt that he had to then take responsibility.

for ensuring that, in his mind, that justice was seen to be done.

But they can't be at the expense of the umpire going about his duties and performing in a safe way.

And, you know, we're all aware of the much bigger picture here, Adam.

You know, how does that manifest itself onto the suburban grounds and the country grounds in the coming weeks?

You know, does that say to players, you know what, there might be an umpire in there trying to sort out, but you know what, I'm just going to barrel in and I'll make my own arrangements.

I think there's got to be consequences to it.

Personally, I would have liked to have seen a suspension because I think that's the line in the sand that needs to be created because we're in a position now where the umpires are almost seen as a bit of a participant.

And that's not their role.

They've got a very distinct role.

It's to enforce the laws of the game, to ensure the game is played in a safe and fair manner.

I think currently with what we're seeing, I don't think that that's

a responsibility that's getting the necessary support and endorsement that it should have.
